4 Ways to Make an Impact

The content of Psalm 37:3, “Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness,” is a great template for life and leadership. It contains 4 practical ways that can help us make an impact every day:

1. Trust God

God and his promises are trustworthy. His word is real and more than sufficient to guide our lives. Good leaders know this and they elevate people and performance by their courage and unflappable confidence. It is contagious, energizing and impactful to everyone around them.

2. Do Good Things

Impactful people do good things - seen and unseen. They stay on mission. They manage their time well so that their gifts, abilities, passions and experiences can be used for the glory of God and for the good of other people.

3. Get the Most Out of Life

Instead of obsessing over the circumstances they don’t have, difference makers get the most out of the ones they do. They don't get distracted by FOMO or the shade of green in the grass on the other side. The focus is on living to the fullest in their current place and maximizing opportunities in the moment.

4. Be Faithful

Everyone starts well but impactful people finish well. They have what the author, Eugene Peterson calls “a long obedience in the same direction." Being faithful and consistent in a fraught, volatile and ever changing world can make an indelible impact on individuals and entire communities.

May we strive for these characteristics to be true of us and every endeavor so we can make an impact no matter where we are or what we resolve to do.
